Welcome to The Libtard
I wasn't always a libtard, I was an Independent who liked much of what both the Republicans and Democrats had to offer. I am a gun owner, I believe in small government and many other qualities that a Republican would have. I also believe that gays should have equal rights, a woman's body is her business not the governments, and other qualities that a Democrat would have. When it came to voting for both local and national elections, I would pick whichever candidates fit most of my requirements, their party was not an issue. The only Independent I have ever voted for was Ross Perot in the 1992 Presidential Election.
Over the past 30 years things have changed. I have seen the Republican Party turn into a party of hate, a party of hypocrisy, a party with no direction. Much of the Republican base seems to be a party with a mix of people that are one issue voters (pro-life, anti-gay, pro-gun, etc) regardless of how ridiculous the candidate was, and there have been some real clowns out there. It just seems like the party cannot get itself together, for this last national election they had close to 40 candidates in the primary. Instead of just having some of their best battle it out, they decided to have some freak show carnival. When I see a candidate like Dr. Ben Carson, I wonder what in the world are people seeing that I am not. I mean the guy was a nutjob for the love of Christ. I did like many of the ideas that Mike Huckabee had both this time that he ran and the time before, but when he chose to defend Kim Davis, he really changed the way I thought of him. He mixed his religion with his politics and that's a no-no for me. He was willing to endorse someone who was denying people their civil rights as a government official. I lost all respect for the man after that.
Then we get to Trump, and his supporters seemed to be the angriest, nastiest group I had ever witnessed in an election. One of the things that drove me crazy was the hypocrisy. If Obama had 5 kids from 3 different wives, did not pay his taxes for 30 years, had said he would "grab women by the P" without their consent, had been accused of child rape, had committed fraud, had denied white people from renting his properties, or basically had said or done even 10% of what Trump did, Conservatives would have a coronary. I'll talk a bit more about Trump in my next post...
Anywhoo, the "Right" has pushed me so far to the "Left" that I am now an off the charts liberal. The racism, the hypocritical behavior, the lack of respect for others that may be different than them, it all just became too much. The Republican party has grown older and "whiter" and has had many religious zealots and racists that have flocked to it. I am now a full-on Libtard for these and many other reason that I will get into with future posts. This blog will have posts about my thoughts on politics, it will have political memes, and news stories that illustrate my frustrations. Feel free to comment on any articles and we can have a discussion.
